This is the day the LORD had made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118:24
Today is going to be a great day because I just figured out how to get back on my blog. Do you sometimes feel like nothing seems to go right but then something does and everything is GREAT!
This morning as I studied my lesson for Sunday I saw how God works in the lives of all his creation. A jewish man named Cornelius had a vision that he was to take the message of Jesus to the gentiles. This was unheard of because they were considered unclean. The message from God to Cornelius was do not call what I have created unclean. The Jewish people prided themselves in being clean and God's chosen people, but now God was reaching out to the one's they considered unclean. How amazing our God is he offers a gift to all people not just a few. This is also evident in the Christmas story. The shepherds, who were also Jewish men and women, were considered undesirable to hang out with because they may have smelled a bit from hanging out with sheep. But, God sent an angel to give them the first peek at the baby Jesus. The shepherds were in the fields outside of the city of David and when the Angel came to them and brought them the GOOD NEWS they left their sheep and went to see the baby Jesus. They were the first to worship him and he lay in the manger. How awesome! God loves us no matter if we are rich or poor, clean or dirty, young or old. God wants each of us to run to Him and worship.
You need to read that Bible it's great for the soul!
Salem is preparing for the Christmas season. I hope your preparing your heart and family for a time of celebration.

This is the day the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
What a great Sunday! We talked about how God takes care of us in Preschool Worship. Jesus sat on a mountain side and told the people that God cared about their every need. He pointed out that the birds were clothed and feed by God, the flowers were clothed and cared for by God and then He asked them, don't you think He cares more for you than these creations. God created us and wants to take care of us, we just have to fall into His arms and trust Him. Just remember the song, Don't worry, Be Happy!
Yes, life will throw you same curve balls and things may not always be perfect but there is a God who will walk with you through whatever you face.
In the Preschool Ministry, on Wednesday nights, we have begun our Operation Christmas Child Project. We decorated boxes this past week and will start collecting supplies. Let's join together once again and share Jesus with these kids. We can all be on mission together.
Items needed:
small toys, tooth brushes and tooth paste, socks, crayons and hard candy.
If you would like to donate items please put in OCC box in Preschool Welcome area. Thanks for making a difference for Jesus!
Preschool Choir is going great!
If you have not brought your 3-5 year old on Sunday nights its not too late. Ms. Linda and I would love to have your preschooler
come sing praises to God with us.
Check it out this Sunday at 6:30 PM

Southern Belle, Wednesday, September 25th
Southern Belle is a great field trip. The kids get to see animals, pick a pumpkin, take a hayride, walk through the corn maze and just have a bunch of fun. Don't miss this event. You can even go back later and do it again with your whole family. What a great family night you could have!

This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!
September is here! That means fall is right around the corner. I was just getting use to the hot rainy days and now, hopefully, the temps will change. Life is like that, you just get use to something and it all changes. One thing that never changes though is God. He is always the same and always faithful.
In the preschool ministry we will begin our Operation Christmas Child collection. Wednesday, September 4th we will kick-off for this years collection. Each preschooler will decorate a box and bring it home. If your family wishes to contribute more than one box that is GREAT! Our Bible story will focus on how much Jesus loves all the children, near and far.
We have had quite a few families visit our church in the past few weeks. I hope our regular families will make the new ones feel welcomed. If you don't know someone just introduce yourself to them and make a new friend.
The recreation ministry will be having their first soccer game on Saturday, September 7th. My husband, Jim, and I are coaching a great group of preschoolers, the Tornado's. Jim will be starting the season without me, Saturday, while I participate in a sprint triathlon in Alabama with my oldest son, Jon and my sister, Laura. Good luck Tornado's!!
We have a great group of men and women who have volunteered to coach 4 year olds and up for the next few months. Thanks to the referees, coaches and especially Melanie for getting this season going.
Weekday Preschool is continuing to add preschoolers to the program. Our teachers are busy each week teaching new skills and encouraging each preschooler to be the best they can be. I really enjoy watching Mrs. Biffle sing and dance with the preschoolers during music time. They have a great time learning new songs.
Congratulations to our newest family members:
Dana & Jordan Greenich had a baby girl - Anniston
Steffany & Scott Brown had a baby boy - Sawyer
Julie & Cedric Marshall had a baby boy - Landon

"This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
Hello Preschool Families!
The weekday preschool program just finished their first full week of school. Each child participating had a different experience. Some kids just walked in and began to get involved in the centers, some were reluctant to get involved and some really missed mom and dad. Whatever experience your child had be assured your child will be loved and most certainly begin to adjust to the change. Talk to their teacher and see how you can be involved in their preschool experience.
Salem Preschool Ministry had a great Sunday. We had many new visitors and were so glad they came to see what we are all about. In Sunday School, your child learned about Priscilla and Aquilla and how they shared Jesus with friends and strangers. You can share this story again with your child this week and talk about you as a family can share Jesus with those around you.
In Mission Friends this week, we will be talking about the disciples and how they dropped everything to follow Jesus. We will be beginning our Operation Christmas Child promotion next month so you can start collecting items for your families box or boxes.
Thanks to all the wonderful Christian men and women who have so graciously volunteered to teach our preschoolers. I feel so blessed to be a part of a church that serves Jesus by teaching preschoolers.
Remember, this is the day the Lord has made, its your choice whether you will be glad in it!

Salem Preschool Update
This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
What a great way to start the day! In Preschool Worship we sing this Psalm. Not only are the kids learning a song but they are learning scripture. Preschool Worship is not just a fun time but a time to learn God's truths. I hope you will talk to your preschooler about what they learn each week. Ask your preschooler to tell you the story that they heard or sing a song from worship. Parents, you are always welcome to worship with us any Sunday so you can experience what they do each week. Danny & Allen lead worship the 1st and 2nd Sunday, I will lead 3rd, 4th and 5th when we have one. It's a great time to be a kid in God's presence.
Parents, this will be the source of all updates and information about the preschool ministry at Salem. For general information go to Salemchurch.net and click preschool where you will find information on our Preschool Ministry and the Weekday Program.
A Bible study will start for adults in October called H2O: A Journey of Faith. If you are not currently involved with a Bible study this is a great 10 week study. If you want more information and times for the study contact me, Kim Winton.
Remember, this is the day God made, what we do with it is our choice.
